Being within 100 feet of a Great Lake at all times is very appealing to me. It means beautiful sunsets, opportunities for special research activities, outstanding smallmouth bass and walleye fishing, amazing snorkeling and swimming experiences, interesting field trips, and interactions with great colleagues and intriguing students.
Photography, playing my 12−string guitar and writing songs, and deer hunting with a bow and arrow.
Field stations, especially one as famous and historical as Stone Lab, are outstanding opportunities for teachers and students alike to experience first hand the beauty and wonder of a Great Lake aquatic ecosystem. Students will look back on their experience here, like I did my attendance at a field station in Minnesota, as one of the best learning experiences of their college careers.
