The Admission Process

To facilitate the application process, all paperwork is done through the Stone Lab Columbus office. This page explains the steps you need to take after submitting your application materials.

Important Deadlines

Deadlines for the REU program, scholarship funding, and Stone Lab employment vary and are outlined below:

Steps You Need To Take

Step 1: After your submitted applications arrive at the Stone Lab office in Columbus by mail or fax, they will be checked for completion. You will be notified of any pieces that are missing. Please note that individuals taking only non-credit classes should be sure to fill out the Application for Non-Credit Workshop Courses.

Step 2: Use the table above to determine when your applications are due and when you can expect to be notified of your acceptance. Space and funds may be available after the deadlines. Contact us to find out more.

Step 3: If you are accepted, an invoice for tuition (for non-OSU students), room, board, and other fees will be sent to you in April. OSU students must register for Stone Lab classes through the university and will be billed for tuition by the registrar. All fees must be paid prior to the start of class. If you are awarded a scholarship please notify us within two weeks if you choose to accept the funds.

Step 4: Another packet will be sent in mid-May, including the Stone Lab Handbook and the following information, if applicable:

Starting this year, all students will be required to purchase their books from the Ohio State Marion Campus bookstore prior to the start of class. To order online, visit www.marion.ohio-state.edu and select “Bookstore” from the Quick Links pull-down menu. Students are also welcome to stop by the bookstore in person.
