We’re The Ohio State University’s island campus on Lake Erie within the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) School of Environment and Natural Resources, hosting 20 college-credit courses and resume-building workshops each and every summer on our six-acre island in Put-in-Bay harbor. If you’re looking for learning outside the box – outside the classroom – you’ve come to the right place.

Explore the history of Stone Lab, from its founding in 1925 to todayWelcome to Ohio State’s Island Campus
If you’re a student, start by exploring our REU program or summer courses to gain hands‑on research experience on Lake Erie. Teachers and groups can choose NGSS‑aligned field trips or use our free virtual field modules to prepare and extend learning. Researchers can request lab space, mesocosms, and vessels for experiments and sampling (see facilities). Visitors and supporters can book island tours or join Friends of Stone Lab to keep this work going or support our program with our giving opportunities.
